Youth Voice Contest – Call for Entries!
About the Contest
The Youth Voice Contest invites passionate individuals from around the world to propose innovative projects connecting film/media with community initiatives. This is your chance to address one of 7 critical global goals/issues and stand a chance to receive one of seven full scholarships to attend the International Youth Media Summit 2024 event in Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania.

The Challenge & How to Apply
Choose one of the seven global goals/issues to address.
(Discrimination) Develop projects that enable everyone to have their voice heard by those in decision-making positions. This includes vulnerable and marginalised youth, young women and girls, young disabled individuals and those from displaced or indigenous communities.
(Environment) Develop projects that combine the arts with regional cultures (predominantly indigenous cultures) to reinforce actions that respond to climate change in location communities.
(Health) Develop communication campaigns focusing on well-being and address eco-anxiety and other pressing health challenges for youth caused or exacerbated by climate change.
(Poverty) Develop projects that involve youth in green economy transition plans, particularly those in communities dependent on carbon-intensive industries.
(Violence) Develop projects that promote climate justice principles when addressing climate risks in war and armed conflicts.
(Women’s Rights) Develop projects for youth-led research related to the impact of climate change on sexual and reproductive health.
(Youth Empowerment) Develop projects for youth development that cultivate creativity, self-expression, and storytelling, particularly among those on the frontlines of climate change impacts.

Judging Criteria
Applicants will be considered based on:
- Alignment with chosen goal/issue
- Innovation and creativity
- Feasibility and sustainability
- Impact and reach
- Clarity of pitch
- Compliance with application guidelines
- Overall impression
Note: Judges are not obliged to select a winner in the absence of applicants or if submissions are incomplete or of low quality in a specific category. Awards may be granted based on merit and impact.
Awards
Winners have the chance to receive one of seven scholarships, each aligned with the chosen goals/issues.
Terms and Conditions
To participate in the Youth Voice Contest, the applicant needs to apply to attend the IYMS 2024 event in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Each participant is allowed only one submission. Before applying, please review the contest’s terms and conditions at the bottom of this page.

1. Eligibility:
The contest is open to individuals aged 16 to 30 residing in any country.
2. Submission Guidelines:
Submissions must be made through the official application form by the specified deadline.
Each participant is allowed only one submission.
All submitted materials, including application forms and pitching videos, must be original works created by the participant.
3. Project Ownership:
Participants retain full ownership and intellectual property rights for their projects.
IYMS reserves the right to use, publish, and promote submitted project details and pitching videos for contest-related promotional purposes.
4. Application Review:
The judging panel will review all submitted projects based on the criteria.
The judging panel’s decisions are final and binding.
5. Awards and Scholarships:
The contest may award up to a maximum of seven scholarships, one for each of the chosen goals/issues. Awards are contingent upon the merit and impact of the received submissions.
6. Winner Notification:
Winners will be notified via the contact information provided in their application form.
IYMS will publicly announce the winners on official contest platforms and social media channels.
7. Non-Endorsement:
Winning projects do not necessarily represent the views or endorsements of IYMS, UNESCO, judges or partner organisations.
8. Disqualification:
Participants may be disqualified if their submissions violate applicable laws or regulations or fail to comply with the contest’s terms and conditions.
9. Privacy and Data Usage:
Participant information collected during the application process will be used solely for contest-related purposes and will not be shared with third parties.
10. Modification or Cancellation:
IYMS reserves the right to modify or cancel the contest without prior notice.
11. Acceptance of Terms:
Submission of an application form implies acceptance of these terms and conditions.
